Roseanne-Inspired Loose Meat Sandwiches

If you’ve seen the hit show Roseanne you’ve always wanted to try a loose meat sandwich. Even if you haven’t watched it, this is one recipe you need!

There have been tons of shows that had an extremely successful run, and when they went off the air, we figured that we would never see them again. Well, one of our favorite families, the Conners, are back! That got me thinking about their loose meat sandwich restaurant. I always wondered what one of those sandwiches would taste like, so I started poking around to see if I could find a recipe. Well, sure enough, there are plenty out there!

This is the one that I settled on. It reminds me a bit of a sloppy joe, but without all the sauce. It was super simple to make and it smelled delicious. I wanted to see what my own family would think of it though. I didn’t say anything about where I got the idea from though.

My husband absolutely devoured his and went back for another one. They are even better than what I thought! Check the next page for the super easy list of ingredients and instructions.

Roseanne-Inspired Loose Meat Sandwiches

Makes 3 to 4 sandwiches

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • kosher salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. Heinz yellow mustard
  • Kosher Vlasic dill pickles
  • 4 plain hamburger rolls

PREPARATION

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Once the oil is shimmering, add onion, stirring occasionally until translucent and tender, 6 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef, using a wooden spoon to break up the meat into small crumbles. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Once half the meat has browned, add garlic, Worcestershire and mustard. Stir until combined, and cook the meat until it is no longer pink at all.
  4. Pile meat onto one hamburger bun, top with pickles, and cover with the other half of the bun. Repeat until you have four sandwiches.

QUICK TIP

You can use a combination of ground meats if you prefer something with a little different taste. Try 1/2 ground sausage and 1/2 ground beef.
